GREEN TEA
Regardless of the color, (white, green, black), all teas contain polyphenols. Strictly speaking, tea itself is not an antioxidant however tea actually scores higher than some fruits and vegetables in antioxidant potential. Green tea contains a group of antioxidants called polyphenols which, in studies, have demonstrated anti-cancer properties. Other studies suggest polyphenols may reduce the risk of gastric, esophageal and skin cancers. Polyphenols also have antibacterial and antiviral properties in addition to having the ability to lower cholesterol. Green tea contains one polyphenol known as EGCG which actually protects the DNA in cells from free radical damage. Green tea has shown promising results in studies determining its ability to burn fat and help regulate blood sugar and insulin levels.
ABOUT
HERBAL TEA

Herbal teas are not actually teas as they do not contain any leaves from the tea plant, Camellia Sinensis. They consist mostly of herbals, which in and of themselves have great health benefits. This type of tea is referred to as “tisane” (pronounced tee-san).
CAUTIONS
Green tea has the ability to lower the blood’s ability to clot. If you are already taking blood thinners, you may wish to limit your daily intake of green tea.
