ROYAL ICING
This smooth, hard-drying icing makes decorations that last. Ideal for making flowers, piping figures, overpiping and decorating cookies. Flowers and decorations made from royal icing will last for months, if stored properly, without softening. Royal icing decorations should be air dried - allow several hours for large pieces. Ensure bowl and utensils are grease free. Royal icing dries out quickly - keep bowl covered with a damp cloth. Store in air tight container. Reheat slowly before using. NOTE: Royal icing is edible. Since it dries candy-hard, it is not recommended for icing your cakes. Use only for special effects you want to last. For piping delicate stringwork, add 1 tsp. of piping gel or light corn syrup to 1 cup icing.
